Relationship Advice – Save Your Relationship

Monday, May 9th, 2011

We can often tell the early signs of a relationship break up but it is not so easy to find out how to save your relationship once you have spotted the warning signs. But it is never too late to save your relationship with your loved one if you are prepared to put the effort in that it takes.

It is the memories of the good times that we hold onto and which we must remember when times are hard. Of course every relationship will go through bad periods and spells, but if you can overcome these times then you can not only save your relationship but take it to a new level by using the experiences to make yourself even stronger for the future. If you have arguments with your partner then try to learn why they started and learn about the feelings you experienced. If you can do this then it will help prevent the same problems in the future and this is the key to saving your relationship and can be summed up quite simply as communication.

Good communication is important in any relationship that will be healthy and become long term. Talk to your partner about the problems you are having and try to save your relationship by going to the root of the problem to see what the causes are. Only when you and your partner talk to each other and face up to your problems will you know if the two if you can indeed save your relationship.

Another crucial thing to remember is forgiveness. We all make mistakes, you, your partner, everyone does. The chances are that your partner has made some kind of mistake at some point within your relationship, it could be something quite small or it could be as serious as having an affair. The latter may not be forgivable for many people and once this has happened a relationship is beyond saving. But if you can find it within your heart to forgive your partner for a mistake they have made then you have made the first step towards saving your relationship. You need to be sure that your partner understands the forgiveness you’ve giving them so that they do not repeat the same mistake again.

Let them understand the pain that you are feeling at the thought of not being able to save your relationship. If they respond with the same feelings then you know that there is still something left for you both and it is still possible to save your relationship. But remember this is not all about the way you feel, have consideration for how your partner feels. They are hurting as well, a good relationship will have both partners contributing to the needs of the other.

So remember that your relationship can be saved if you and your partner are both prepared to put the work and effort into doing it. Listen to each other, talk about the root of your problems and you will find how to solve them and save your relationship.

Marriage should be viewed as a once in a lifetime event only. When you decide to choose a partner, it is a tie that should last a lifetime. So, how do you choose the right man to marry? An important advice for you is to get to know him well and never rush into marriage.

Learn everything you can about your potential partner. Find out about his family, friends, work, hobbies, past relationships, likes and dislikes, etc. Get to know his family and friends or colleagues. In short, find out what kind of person he is and decide whether you can live with this person for the rest of your life. There are four types of men you may want to avoid as described below.

The Abuser
The abuser is someone who sees nothing wrong about beating up his partner. He likes to be in control of your life from what you wear to the friends you mix with. The abuser has no respect for you and it is advisable to ditch this person as soon as possible.

The Casanova
Beware of this ladies man. He likes to mix around and enjoys different company most of the time. He is afraid of commitment and the responsibility that comes with it. There is a high chance that marriage will not change his behavior or character of partnering with a different person often.

The Scrooge
There are men who are possessive about their money. If he expects you to foot your dinner bill and counts every penny he spends on you, imagine how miserable it is going to be living with him. You have to keep track and justify all of your spending from the groceries to the laundry bill.

The spoiled brat
This person is self-centered and everything is about himself and his wants and needs. He is used to someone taking care of him and hence, he does not know how to take care of himself. Work and responsibility is a foreign concept to him and it is not surprising that he is unable to take care of another person’s well being.

Marriage is not all about choosing the right person but this is one of the most important steps. Consequently, your marriage relationship has a higher chance of succeeding that can last a lifetime.
